The inaugural meeting of ICT Association of Georgia was held at the Ministry of Economy

ICT Association of Georgia

In November 2020, StrategEast Georgia has established the ICT Association of Georgia aiming to form a platform for discussing strategies and practical solutions for accelerated development of the ICT industry in Georgia. The first to join the newborn association were  EPAM Systems, Alta Software and the Bank of Georgia.

The inaugural meeting of the ICT Association was held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia with participation of Minister Natia Turnava, Deputy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili, Chairman at Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA)  Avtandil Kasradze and President of ICT association Anatoly Motkin.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of Exadel Georgia, MySoft.ge, iKnow.ge, Sweeft Digital and AzRy.

In her opening remarks, Minister Natia Turnava expressed the government’s readiness to foster the development of the digital economy and informed that the ministry has multiple opportunities to provide financial and regulatory assistance to the development of the ICT industry.

President of ICT association Anatoly Motkin, in particular, admitted, “Today, the ICT industry of Georgia is at the initial stage of its integration into the global tech industry. And now it is very important to act together not to replicate other’s mistakes and avoid wasting time. The main mission of ICT Association of Georgia is to join the efforts of all actors interested in the development of the ICT industry in Georgia to bring it to a new level.”

At the meeting, representatives of ICT companies agreed to set up a working group and formulate policy recommendations for the government, which will be presented to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
